Adelphi, Md. (Jan. 27, 2025) 鈥 The Arts Program at University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is hosting the third biennial Maryland High School Juried Art Exhibition, which represents the finest student artwork from across the state.

鈥淚n the third iteration of the Maryland High School Juried Art Exhibition and awards, Maryland students are proving that they have the talent to create magnificent works of art,鈥 said Eric Key, director of the Arts Program at UMGC. 鈥淭hrough this exhibition, we want to support school art programs and demonstrate that these young artists can have a career in the arts.鈥

The exhibition, which opened Jan. 19, celebrates the talents and unique perspectives of high school students statewide and supports them as they transition to the next level of their artistic careers.

Featuring works in all mediums, the Maryland High School Juried Art Exhibition is the jewel among statewide visual arts competitions. The exhibition showcases exceptional student works chosen by jurors.

During the opening reception on Feb. 2 at the College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, awards will be presented to the first-, second- and third-place winners. 聽The artwork of the first-place award winner will be featured on the 兔子先生Arts Program website.

Each school in the competition is allowed only one award winner.

The first-place winner receives a $5,000 cash award ($1,500 to the student, $3,500 to the school arts program or to the general operating fund if there is no arts program) and a trophy. The second-place winner receives a $2,500 cash award ($1,000 to the student, $1,500 to the school) and a plaque. The third-place winner receives a $1,000 cash award ($300 to the student, $700 to the school). The artwork of the fourth-place鈥攈onorable mention鈥攚inner is marked by a red ribbon during the run of the exhibition.

The public can see the exhibition from Jan. 19鈥揂pril 6, 2025. The opening reception and awards presentation will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, at the 兔子先生Arts Program Gallery, College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, 3501 University Boulevard East, Adelphi, MD 20783.
