The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) Alumni Association has honored seven outstanding alumni volunteers for their exceptional service to UMUC.
As in the past, the Honors, which recognize individual alumni who enrich the UMUC community through their intellectual, social, cultural, and service contributions, were bestowed during the association鈥檚 annual Alumni Reception and Awards celebration鈥攏ow in its 27th year.
Awards are granted in four categories. Christine A. Ross 鈥06, 鈥08 received the "Distinguished Alumnus Award," the highest alumni award granted at UMUC. The award was created in 1976 to recognize an alumna or alumnus who has realized outstanding personal and professional achievement while demonstrating exemplary service.
Other awardees were:
- Hakeem A. Basheerud-Deen 鈥98, recipient of the "Executive Business Leader Award"
- Kelisa Wing '08, recipient of the "Edward A. Parnell Outstanding Alumna Award"
- Anissa Anne Alston 鈥12; Gregory Barber 鈥07, 鈥12, 鈥15; Kirk Platt 鈥99; and Vernon Green Jr. 鈥10, 鈥14, all "Achiever Award recipients.
