What you have to offer听听
Your聽resume should capture how many years of experience you have, highlight聽your聽relevant聽skills,聽and clearly state the position you are seeking. This聽information聽can be addressed in the 鈥渟ummary鈥 or 鈥減rofessional profile鈥 of the resume,聽which should be聽located聽at the very top of the聽document. The summary can be in bullet or paragraph聽form聽and should be聽six lines or less聽in length.听听
What skills you possess听听
Hiring聽managers聽need聽to聽know聽what聽skills you聽bring to the role and their聽organization. Technical skills are highly聽sought out due to聽COVID-19聽and remote work.聽Be聽sure to聽include聽the systems and databases you are familiar with that聽are聽relevant to聽your industry. If you are unsure which聽skills聽you should聽highlight in your resume, use the job description to guide you. Skills should be under the heading of 鈥渟kills鈥, 鈥渁reas of expertise鈥, or聽the聽鈥渃ore competencies鈥 section of the resume.听听
What is your impact
For hiring professionals to see your individual contributions, consider聽adding quantifiable聽data. Quantify as much information as possible,聽meaning add experience that can quickly be understood through聽numbers,聽percentages,聽and dollar signs.聽Include this quantifiable data in聽the聽鈥減rofessional experience鈥澛爏ection聽of聽your聽resume.听听
What are your passions
If you are an entry-level professional, a recent聽graduate,聽or聽are transitioning careers,聽highlighting additional areas on your resume will be helpful.聽By showcasing聽your familiarity and passion for the field, you聽can聽highlight聽a different type of experience. Additional areas to highlight聽include聽achievements, honors, relevant coursework, special projects, volunteer or freelance work, professional organizations,聽training,聽and certifications.听听
How you are detail oriented:听听
Lack聽of attention to detail can come across as being lazy or careless, so be sure to聽check, and double check,聽your resume聽for spelling and grammatical errors, and make sure all information is complete and up to date. Provide all required documentation聽to聽create a tailored resume聽that highlights聽your聽relevant skills and experience.听听
A functioning resume聽should聽address all concerns and questions a聽recruiter聽may have.
